I was on 240mg of oxcodone daily for six years prior. I would not take methadone! But the opiate detox would have cost me my carear, and i would not stand for that!
I wondered around yr two why they pissed tested us. I thought they were making sure i was in fact taking suboxone. I could not afford the price of this garbage, so i starting drinking heavy (that IS NOT an answear), while titrating (lowering the dose daily) down.I had a .24bac and was cut off. Nobody told me i could not drink while on this. The good thing is (or so i thought) is I had 1900mg on hand, with 2 refills. SO MUCH FOR THE DOC! You would think when these quacks cut you off they would cut off your refills.
Anyhow, in due time i was at 1/4mg every other day. This was not easy, but i found rigerous exercise was MY answear. I have now been free of suboxone for 30 days. But will say i became an alcoholic (go to AA now), lost a great job, and my license because of detoxing. Do not do it my way. The only way i have made it this far is to attend AA, correspond with a few at a site called http://sobrietywithoutcrutches.ning.com/, and through my faith in god. You amy not be aware of the journey you are embarking upon. It is misery to say the least! I do not sleep, spend 1/2 the day on the crapper, and will not speak to others (except my AA buds), for fear of violence on my part. I am doing it though! Titration and cold turkey is the only way. I will never take a doctor prescribed drug again. I would just a soon die. Tough words, but the truth. I wish you all my best. I only know two others who have done this, one in SC, the other in New Mex.I met those great inspirational persons on the website above. I figured, if they can do it so can i and they have provided more hope than any quack (sorry doc, i think prescribing suboxone is wrong)than anybody.
